Accidentally fell upon a Korean marketplace in Anaheim while looking for a record store. Apparently, all of them are seriously gone, by the way. We tried to get to two different record stores and both were no more. In this market, I found a cosmetic counter that carried this brand that I personally have never heard of called Peripera. Honestly, I chose this based on the cute packaging. I’m kind of an easy sell on cute stuff.

The tint is very watery, and it’s kind of annoying because in my case, it seeped into my mouth and feathered a bit on my upper lip. It tastes icky, but not enough to never wear it again. However, the tint dries quickly and stays on well. It also shows up great, as you can see in the photo above. The lower left is without any product on my lips, and the lower right is with just the stain on.

I like a more bold lip, so I intend to use this stain under some red liner and lipstick for a cherry red lip. I do like how the stain sets and brings a nice, soft red color to my lips. Underneath a balm, it looks like I have naturally rose-colored lips, like so much Snow White.

I found this product for $10. You can get it on eBay from $7-$12.

[Fashion] Custom Made Leggings by Dame Fatale

IMG_5981

Though leggings would seem like a well fitted item when purchased at any store ever, they are not. When I wear a size small legging, my butt stretches them to the point that they feel like they’re falling down and I’m consistently pulling them up. Also, muffin top! A size medium is baggy under the knees and roomy in the waist. For the affordable price of less than a pair of Splendid leggings at Bloomingdale’s, I had a pair made specifically for me by Dame Fatale! High waisted and perfect! If you wear leggings 3-5 times a week like me, I strongly suggest getting a pair made to your exact measurements. Also, check out her Pac Man hair bows.

[Clothing] Snow White Sheer Tights

I have recently purchased over $350 worth of Disney merchandise from Hot Topic’s website in the past three weeks. Obviously, after such a big haul, they emailed me a standard message to review the items for the website, which I was actually more interested in doing than most people would be. Regardless of my excitement, the email links didn’t work, and I was left feeling slightly disappointed. Then I realized, I have my own blog/website/place to review things that I’ve purchased! I knew this place would come in handy!

Because I bought so much stuff, and some of it hasn’t arrived yet, I will have to do these reviews in installments. Today I will start with the Snow White Sheer Tights.

A sweet Snow White image split between tights. Subtle, but still a conversation starter.

The image of Snow White is under the knees, and though you think it would almost go unnoticed, it doesn’t. Twice on the bus I was asked if the image was a tattoo, and all day long people would comment on them as I walked by. The cute factor of these is at least a 10, while the quality is more of a 7. Because they are sheer tights, they are capable of being easily ripped or torn, especially if you have long nails, didn’t shave your legs and have stubble, or are not extremely careful when walking by things like bushes, walls or rocks. It is a fun statement piece that gets a lot of attention, but once they tear, they’re pretty much done. I recommend buying two pairs, just in case. Comfortable fit, and they really don’t sag as you wear them all day. I’m 5’7″ and got the size M/L and they fit perfect. Available at Hot Topic.

I would suggest pairing this with a nice solid colored dress, such as black, red or blue. You definitely want the attention on the tights; They’re just so cute.

(TIP: If you do make a small tear, use clear nail polish over it to prevent it from tearing more!)

[Halloween] Pumpkin Flavored/Scented Everything

Much thanks to Holly for taking a photo of my baked goods.
Much thanks to Holly for taking a photo of my baked goods.

One of the few things that bring me as much joy as the holiday season in general is the seasonal arrival of all things pumpkin. The first real hint of it for me this year was when Starbucks returned to serving the Pumpkin Spice Latte in September, and would you believe it’s 10 years old?! I know it’s a total corporate marketing ploy, but I truly feel like Fall is here as soon as the PSL is back on the menu.  I prefer it made with soy, the vanilla flavor adds a lush smoothness to it.

After fall being here was established, it was propelled with flourishing excitement by the Trader Joe’s Fearless Flyer! So many pumpkin options for the pantry, home and body! Just skimming the shopping list sends me into a rabid frenzy of shouting “I must have all the pumpkin things” quite literally. I have received a sampling of some of these items, including that Pumpkin Body Butter (listed at the top of the “what’s new” section) that I have psyched myself up for so much that I am planning an entire grooming ritual around it. I ate pumpkin ravioli today for lunch, and was up until 1am baking some pumpkin cupcakes with cheesecake frosting last night. Excessive? Probably.

[Fashion] Designer Dmitry Sholokhov’s Latest Collection

I have only watched one season of Project Runway in my entire life, and it is purely because of Dmitry. It was season 10, and I was informed to watch it because “one of the guys looks like Trent Reznor”. I’m going to spoil this for you and let you know, in case you’ve never seen him, he doesn’t look that much like Trent Reznor. In fact, he’s much taller, has longer hair and piercing blue eyes and swoon. But that’s besides the point, this guy is one of the most talented designers I’ve ever seen.

Older photo of Trent used for comparison.

Resemblance is there, but not intensely so, right?
Resemblance is there, but not intensely so, right?

I’m straying from the point now because I’ve distracted myself with images of hot guys with longer black hair. Anyway, I was browsing the internet when I was supposed to be doing homework and noticed he has a collection featured on O.Jen available for purchase online! A piece of Dmitry could be worn close against your body, isn’t that to die for? Granted, it won’t be his talented hands draped about your waist, but it would be totally designed by those magical hands!

Oh what, can’t read Russian? No worries, Google Chrome can translate the page for you. Can’t do that either? Apparently it will be released in retailers by now, but most likely only in Europe so, better get to learning Russian or more dresses for me.

I think my heart is set on this piece: It has a bit of a sophisticated Ziggy Stardust feel to me (it also comes in red):

Dmitry Dress

Or this!:Another Dmitry Dress!

Do I want to be sophisticated fancy with a  dash of sexy, or sophisticated sexy with a dash of fancy, I just can’t decide. One, if not seven, will be mine.

[Fashion] High Waisted Subtle Acid-Washed Jeans

i just found these great jeans at Urban Outfitters that are high waisted, ankle length and skinny leg with a very subtle hint of acid wash. This hint gives it a grayish hint of color and is a great use of gray, as I had mentioned previously. The pictures on the website make the acid wash look more prominent than it really is, so I took some photos of my pair in the bathroom for real-life translation:

The slight hint of gray makes them break up solid black outfits while still keeping the outfit dark. They are super comfortable, but they do stretch out. You might want to size down, especially if you’re small waisted. And as of right now, they are on sale. If you live in SF, the closest location is the one on Powell and Ellis, across the street from Macy’s Downtown.

[Cosmetics] Villainous Limited Edition Shadows

Remember that night I had to rush into Walgreen’s and grab make-up in a flash? I would have just settled on no eyeshadow at all (desperate times, people) but this Fall Fashion Week Limited Edition palette from Maybelline in Autumn Dream caught my eye.

Perfect shades for all your sinister deeds!
Perfect shades for all your sinister deeds!

Can you say, “Maleficent”? Seriously, the green, the purple, the navy? This is the color scheme Disney villains dream of. The shimmer isn’t too sparkly, and the shade are very creamy. You don’t need to overly-apply either: They have great coverage. I suggest a primer, because without it looks like a grey mess by the end of the day. If you’re uncertain how to use all four colors at once, I suggest the light gold from right above your eye’s crease to the bottom of your eyebrow, followed by the purple for the entire lid. Use the green for the eye’s crease, and the navy for the corners of the eye.
